Maysville aldermen approve consent agenda, hear plan for new water-plant connection; HACH contract OK'd

The Maysville Board of Aldermen met Jan. 8, 2025, and approved its consent agenda, including minutes from Dec. 30, 2024 and routine checks, after a motion by Alderman Peggy Harwood and a second from Alderman Larry Zieber. Mayor Ronnie Pearl convened the meeting at 6 p.m. under the Missouri Sunshine Law.
Andy Macias of Snyder & Associates presented the board with plans for a connection point at the city's water plant to link Maysville to Great Northwest Wholesale Water. Macias described the proposed booster-pump housing and said the engineering plans will be submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for review. Board members offered suggestions to the design during the presentation.
The board reviewed and approved a HACH service/contract for 2025 after Alderman Clint Sollars moved for approval and Alderman Amy Justus seconded. The contract amount as recorded in the minutes is unclear in the transcript. The motion carried.
The board reviewed an invoice from a local businessman and agreed to refer the bill to the city's insurance carrier for handling.
City Clerk Pat Figher Johnson reported staff found water left on in Bartlett Park restrooms; the pipes have frozen. Staff shut the water off and are monitoring the lines to prevent breaks.
Other business included review of the prior fiscal year audit report, an agreement to advertise for summer mowing help, and a decision to begin presentations supporting renewal of the street-tax levy on the April ballot. The minutes describe the levy as a renewal (not a new tax) of a $0.50 street levy used for street improvements, gravel, culvert work and ditches.
The board thanked city crews for extended work clearing streets after recent snow and thanked Alderman Clint Sollars for assisting around the square. Members said holiday lights will be taken down from poles as weather permits, with snow clearing remaining the priority.
Mayor Ronnie Pearl set the next meeting for Jan. 22, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
