District construction update: CTE labs, middle‑school and stadium work near completion; project on track and largely within budget

Eric Givisto of Market Johnson presented photos, a schedule update and budget summary for the district's referendum-funded projects, reporting steady progress across the CTE, middle-school and high-school work.

Givisto said the district is tracking toward a substantial completion target of Aug. 23, with teachers scheduled to move in and familiarize themselves with new labs and equipment before the school year. He pointed to new CTE spaces — including expanded welding booths, advanced manufacturing labs with CNC and molder equipment, a culinary arts lab with a future walk-in cooler, a greenhouse with automated controls, and media/green-screen production space — and encouraged the board to schedule tours after turnover.

On finances, Givisto said the total referendum budget shown in the packet is about $32,000,600. The packet shows projected savings of roughly $11,000 and a construction-contingency line of $47,000 that had not yet been claimed; Givisto said there was a reasonable expectation some contingency could become available as closeout proceeds. He also noted equipment purchases made by the owner’s team and partners and that certain grant or interest earnings could still alter final allocations.

Givisto updated the board on a water-damage issue affecting the middle-school gym floor: the roofing contractor (Mint Roofing) has agreed to cover replacement costs, which were discussed in the meeting as being on the order of $220,000; the district expects a usable gym for fall programs and a full replacement to follow.

Trustees thanked Market Johnson for project management and discussed timing for a public open house in late August or September after turnover and teacher acclimation. No formal vote was required; the board will receive final closeout details and budget reconciliation as the project completes.
