The Village of Warrens Board of Trustees on April 8 agreed to pursue an ordinance to formally establish a Plan Commission and to advance several zoning updates to upcoming public hearings and a May board meeting. The board directed staff to schedule the public hearing date and bring ordinance approval and appointments back to the May meeting.
Board materials show the Plan Commission approved updates to the sign ordinance and recommended creation of two new residential zoning categories, labeled R3 and R4, along with an updated zoning map and revised permit forms for sign permits, conditional uses, variances and annexations. Those fee and form updates will be subject to a public hearing before final adoption.
Trustees also confirmed formation of a Zoning Board of Appeals with two listed members — Vicki Myer and Jerry Werner — and nominated Sarah Payton for appointment pending confirmation at the May meeting; the motion to form the board carried, with Trustee A. Werner recorded as abstaining on one appointment vote.
The ordinance to officially create the Plan Commission, the zoning map, the R3/R4 district definitions and related fee changes will return for formal action after public notice and hearing. The board did not finalize appointments to the Plan Commission at the April meeting.
