Waldo trustees approve fee waivers, temporary licenses and several resolutions and ordinances

At its Feb. 10 meeting, the Village of Waldo Board of Trustees approved fee waivers for community events, temporary retailer licenses, an operator's permit, and a package of resolutions and ordinances including a petition to the Wisconsin DOT to lower the speed limit on State Highway 28; the board also approved vouchers and tabled millpond engineering to Feb. 24.
President Dekker convened the Village of Waldo Board of Trustees at 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 10. The board unanimously approved a series of routine and policy items, including fee waivers, temporary alcohol-retailer licenses for community fundraisers, updates to local codes and a formal petition to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Trustees approved waiving the Memorial Hall rental fee for the Waldo Fire Department’s brat fry on March 9 and for the Waldo Lion’s Club pork chop dinner on April 26. The board also approved a temporary Class B/Class B license for the Waldo Fire Department to sell malt beverages and wine on March 9 and a temporary Class B license for the Waldo Lion’s Club on April 26. Trustee Mike Hintz moved the fee waivers; Trustee Steve Bunnow and others seconded the motions, which carried.
The board approved an operator’s permit for Charlotte Schroeder (Waldo Convenience/J Mart 4) after the Cascade Police Department returned a clear background check. Trustee Steve Bunnow moved approval of the permit; Trustee Jerry Hammarlund seconded and the motion carried.
On policy items, the board approved Resolution 2025-01 to amend the Village fee schedule (moved by Trustee Jerry Hammarlund, seconded by Trustee Dennis Reinemann), and Resolution 2025-02 to delegate commercial inspections to the Village Building Inspector (moved by Trustee Dennis Reinemann, seconded by Trustee Hammarlund). The board also adopted Resolution 2025-03 to petition the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit on State Highway 28 through the village (moved by Trustee Mike Hintz, seconded by Trustee Hammarlund).
Trustees adopted Ordinance 2025-03 to add a no-parking zone on the east side of Depot Street from the corner of Depot and Second Streets where signage is present and to remove section 154-8 (moved by Trustee Dennis Reinemann, seconded by Trustee Mike Hintz). They also adopted Ordinance 2025-04 to amend the Building Ordinance to incorporate Wisconsin Administrative Code SPS 327 (Camping Units) into local code (moved by Trustee Steve Bunnow, seconded by Trustee Reinemann).
The board approved paying vouchers numbered 16665–16692 and accepted the treasurer’s report as presented. The minutes record the voucher total as "$2710,168.40," which appears to be a typographical error in the minutes; the trustee who moved voucher approval was Trustee Steve Bunnow and Trustee Jerry Hammarlund seconded the motion.
The meeting ended with routine correspondence and reports and adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
