The Maysville Board of Aldermen handled routine business March 26, approving the consent agenda and taking several administrative actions before entering closed session for employee reviews.
The board approved the consent agenda—including minutes from March 5, March 20 and March 24, 2025—and a list of checks and payroll by motion from Alderman Amy Justus, seconded by Alderman Peggy Harwood. The board accepted a bid for a John Deere mower after a motion from Alderman Justus and a second from Alderman Larry Zieber.
Board members reviewed a survey about trees on Cherry Street and decided to follow existing policy rather than take immediate action; Mayor Ronnie Pearl said he would speak with the landowner. The board also reviewed a bid to run electricity to a new street shed; Alderman Clint Sollars suggested the city could perform most of the work and have EZ Electric complete the hookup, and the board took no action that night.
The board reviewed an insurance quote, directed some removals and premium adjustments, and Alderman Clint Sollars moved to approve the adjusted quote; Alderman Justus seconded and the motion carried. The clerk was directed to contact the Department of Natural Resources to check the status of plans to connect to a new water source. The minutes note a City Officials Training Seminar in Independence on April 25 and that Alderman Sollars planned to attend.
Alderman Clint Sollars moved, seconded by Alderman Peggy Harwood, to go into closed session to discuss employee reviews; the board conducted a roll-call vote with all four aldermen recorded as voting yes and the motion carried. After closed session, Alderman Sollars moved to reconvene to open session and adjourn; Alderman Justus seconded and the roll-call vote again recorded all four aldermen voting yes. The minutes show the meeting adjourned at 9:22 p.m. and scheduled the next meeting for April 9 at 6:00 p.m.
What’s next: Personnel matters discussed in closed session are not public; routine purchases and capital work noted will require staff follow-up and, if necessary, future board action.
