Maysville aldermen approve consent agenda, discuss ditch repairs, equipment and appointments

The Maysville Board of Aldermen approved its consent agenda and addressed routine city operations at its Dec. 30 meeting.
A motion by Alderman Clint Sollars, seconded by Alderman Larry Zieber, approved the consent agenda, which the minutes list as the minutes of the Dec. 11, 2024 meeting and the following checks: Water ck# 6791–6801; Wastewater ck# 3440–3444; Street ck# 4381–4385; General ck# 21896–21903; and Payroll ck# 100700–10706.
Casey Flinn reported that his crew has nearly completed the ditch at the corner of Elm and S. Water Street but said the ditch at Hull and Taylor Street will need to be re‑angled and repaired; the board asked Flinn to prepare cost estimates and a prioritized repair list. The minutes record only that Flinn raised the item and that the board requested estimates; no dollar amounts were entered.
The City Clerk reported that the wand used to read touch water meters is malfunctioning and that crew members are spending extra time trying to obtain reads; the clerk was asked to obtain price quotes and report back. The clerk also was asked to check on rock that was excavated during contractors' installation of a new water line into Cameron; the board suggested that rock could be used around the city's lakes.
The minutes state the City Clerk will be appointed to the Region D Recycling Board effective Jan. 1, 2025, for a one‑year term; the entry does not record a roll-call vote or additional details. The board also agreed to let weekend workers choose overtime pay or compensatory time, and it asked that the city crew either submit weekly reports of completed work or attend board meetings to provide updates.
