District project cost climb of about $2 million offset by interest, grants and rebates, presenter says

At the Nov. 20 Saint Croix Central School Board meeting, project presenter Eric briefed the board on the district's construction work, describing cost increases, funding sources and remaining punch-list items.
"As you can see, we went up, about $2,000,000," Eric said while walking the board through the project's budget columns. He told the board the district had preserved its original referendum and that additional funding came from a CTE grant (an incremental $200,000), interest income from invested funds (reported projection $1,230,000 as of July 18) and energy rebates (a projected $113,000), all of which together were keeping the project near break-even despite higher construction costs.
Eric outlined remaining punch-list work around site cleanup, an exterior shed to be wrapped up after Thanksgiving and commissioning of HVAC and control systems. He said the commissioning agent Terry Friess from CX Partners will perform a final systems check after increased occupancy, and that contractors will return in spring if site landscaping or grass requires follow-up.
On warranties, Eric said routine one-year labor-and-material warranties apply and that some components carry longer manufacturer warranties ("10 to 15 year warranty" on certain items). He told board members that the one-year warranty period runs through Sept. 1, 2025, and encouraged staff to report any emerging issues so the project team could address them promptly.
No formal action was required at the meeting on the construction budget; the update was informational and the board asked clarifying questions about lighting controls, site punch-list timing and warranty contacts.
