Jackson County adopts landing fees for Rogue Valley International–Medford Airport

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 17 to approve Order No. 139-26, adopting landing fees for the Rogue Valley International–Medford Airport for fiscal year 2026–2027.
County Administrator Danny Jordan told the board the county calculates landing fees by dividing the difference between total airfield expenditures and airfield rents into estimated landing weights. He said the independent contractor review recommended rates of $4.65 per thousand pounds for signatory aircraft and $6.05 per thousand pounds for non-signatory aircraft; aircraft providing wildfire support during the designated fire season would be charged $3.32 per thousand pounds. Jordan also noted aircraft based at the airport are not charged landing fees.
The board opened a public hearing required under Oregon Revised Statute 294.160; no members of the public testified. Commissioner Randy Sparacino moved to approve the order as read; Commissioner Colleen Roberts seconded. Commissioners Sparacino, Roberts and Chair Rick Dyer voted aye and the motion passed.
The order directs that the new fees take effect July 1, 2026. The board said the fees reflect the recommended rate review and are intended to allocate net airfield costs across carriers that are not based at the airport.
