The board authorized the chairman to sign an acknowledgement of receipt; the chairman’s signature does not commit county funding or approve any projects.
Interim County Manager Melissa Williamson summarized the plan as a tool that documents facility assessments, maintenance needs and construction priorities and noted that any county funding would require both boards’ sign‑off. During discussion Commissioner Tony Smith cited capacity figures and project costs, saying, “based on information it looks like South School is is only at 37% capacity at this time,” and questioned an Oakwood HVAC line item listed at $7,000,000, which he described as appearing “out of line.”
Manager and staff reiterated that tonight’s action was an acknowledgement only; any project approvals or funding commitments would return to the board for separate decisions. The motion to authorize the chairman to sign was moved by Commissioner Rose, seconded and carried unanimously.
