King George supervisors approve consent agenda, a rezoning, two right-of-way abandonment notices and a fund transfer

Applicant Keith Auc explained the owners seek to revert ~2.07 acres from C-2 to A-3 to allow a duplex with family housing purposes. With no public opposition at the hearing, a motion to approve the rezoning "as presented by staff" passed by roll call.
Close Fund 253 and transfer balance: Finance staff recommended closing Fund 253 (established 2018) and transferring the remaining cash balance of $95,459.94 to the school operating fund. The presenter said the funds originally came from the schools operating budget in 2018 and that the schools had not come back to the board for replacement funding; the board approved the transfer by motion and roll call.
Road-abandonment resolutions: The board approved two separate notice-of-intent resolutions (R-16-2026 and R-17-2026) to begin VDOT27s 909 flowchart for abandoning rights of way for Route 9213 (old middle school bus loop) and State Route 9209 (school-office loop). Staff said these are early procedural steps that will require further notice and potential hearings if objections arise.
Other votes: The board reaffirmed support for the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail, approved a nomination to the planning commission (Erica McGinnis), and adjourned with the next meeting set for Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
