MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. — The Borough Council passed Ordinance 1346‑2025 on first reading at its Nov. 25 meeting, updating salary ranges for numerous municipal positions and scheduling a public hearing and final vote for Dec. 16, 2025.
The ordinance amends Ordinance 1335‑2024 and sets pay ranges for executive and administrative roles (for example, Borough Administrator $25,000–$130,000; Chief Finance Officer/Tax Collector $70,000–$165,000; Public Works Director $70,000–$165,000) as well as a broad set of hourly and seasonal positions (crossing guards, lifeguards, pool staff, instructors, and temporary staffing rates). Councilman Dierkes moved the ordinance on first reading and Councilwoman Pacifico seconded the motion; the roll call vote was Ayes: Dierkes, Matejek, Pacifico, Van Deusen, Wass; Nays: none. The ordinance is to be advertised in full and returned for a public hearing on Dec. 16, 2025.
