Board proclaims July Parks and Recreation Month; staff outline park projects and reopening of Turlock Lake

She told the board the department has added picnic packages, solar lighting and shade structures and plans maintenance and accessibility improvements across community parks.
The presentation included a map of five regional parks (including Modesto and Woodward reservoirs) and an announcement that Turlock Lake State Recreation Area is slated to reopen next summer. Chumley invited residents to county activities throughout July such as a rec‑van program, and highlighted the parks team’s role in public events including Easter egg hunts and community fireworks.
Chair acknowledged staff and recognized county parks’ contributions to community health and well‑being. The chair read a proclamation that outlines the county’s support for parks and recreation programs and thanked partner agencies that support parks operations.
