Parks and Recreation details Concert in the Park, vendor and parking plans

Chair (S3) opened the meeting by announcing that Concert in the Park begins tomorrow at Chadbourne Field and said, “Concert in the Park is at Chadbourne Field…Granite Planet tomorrow night,” emphasizing that the fire station will be providing food for the kickoff.

The committee discussed vendor scheduling and logistics for the weekly concert series. S3 listed vendors scheduled across the summer (Moe’s Italian, Bell’s Coffee, B and D Roadside Grill and the Goodwood Mills Fire Department) and said she had coordinated vendor posts through the town’s MyRec registration system, which she described as working well for signups and payments. Committee member (S2) said she would post vendor and program details the following day now that contracts had been approved.

Members spent substantial time on operations: where to deploy cones to prevent overflow into library parking, ensuring ambulance and emergency access from the concession/side-field entrance, and placement of the porta-potty near the bandstand. S3 noted Rusty had left cones in the shed for event use and that the group would walk parking patterns to maximize space without blocking access points. Committee members agreed to post reminders on community pages and to place additional signage leading to parking areas.

The meeting also confirmed band timing and setup logistics: bands and sound crews usually arrive early to set up and some require 90 minutes of prep time. S3 said the new canopy above the bandstand will improve weather cover for performers.

The committee closed this portion by agreeing to continue vendor outreach, finalize the MyRec postings, and confirm Wednesday/Thursday social-media reminders the week of each concert. The Parks and Recreation commission set its next regular meeting for August 12.
