Pine Ridge awards $9,700 landscaping contract to Simple Cuts, approves routine donations and certifies jury roll

On Jan. 13 the Pine Ridge Town Council approved the Property & Recreation Committee's recommendation to award RFP26-01 for lawn maintenance to Simple Cuts of Columbia for $9,700 for seven months of service.
Mayor Pro-Tem Simms told the council the committee received eight proposals ranging from $5,700 to $42,915 and recommended Simple Cuts, located at 515 Autumn Glen Road, because the company had previously provided "exceptional" service and often went "above and beyond". Councilwoman Sturkie moved to approve the contract and Councilman Kyzer seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The council also certified Resolution 2026-01 to confirm the municipal jury roll drawn from the Lexington County voter registration list; Mayor Pro-Tem Simms moved to certify the list and Councilwoman Sturkie seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Additionally, the council approved budgeted community donations: $500 to Friends of the South Congaree-Pine Ridge Library, $700 to support two Midland Girls Softball teams, and $750 to support two Midland Boys Baseball teams. The mayor noted the town's support for local youth athletics is an ongoing community investment.
What happens next: Contract administration will proceed under the town's procurement rules and the planning/property staff will coordinate with Simple Cuts on the seven-month schedule.
