Council postpones annexation and development agreement over pedestrian-crossing questions

Staff requested the delays to clarify the scope and cost of a proposed pedestrian crossing from the adjacent neighborhood to a sports complex.
Councilmember Coyne said he had reached out to staff and learned the developer had been coordinating with park officials but that precise responsibilities and the cost of the crosswalk still needed to be finalized. “Staff just wants to know exactly what is involved in that crossing,” Coyne said, describing his understanding that the project would improve pedestrian access to the sports complex but that negotiations remained ongoing.
Council approved motions to postpone both items so staff and the developer can resolve details. The council discussed amending the postponement motion to cover both items together so they can be considered simultaneously once staff has the needed cost and design information.
Next steps: staff will work with the developer and parks staff to refine the pedestrian-crossing plan and cost estimate and return the items to the council once more information is available.
