Otoe County approves KENO grants for Nebraska City schools and Syracuse senior center

Mark Fritch, superintendent of Nebraska City Public Schools, attended as the foundation’s representative and explained that the visitors’ concrete bleachers are original to the facility and present safety concerns; the board approved the foundation’s $30,000 request on a motion by Commissioner Cole, seconded by Commissioner Freshman, with all commissioners voting aye.
Carla Frase represented Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging and said BRAAA originally requested $18,000 but reduced its request to $10,000. She told the board the oven the Syracuse Senior Center needs is estimated at $12,920; Commissioners voted unanimously to approve $10,000 toward the purchase on a motion by Commissioner Crownover, seconded by Commissioner Freshman.
