Selectmen award police station design contract to Jukunsky Humes Architects

The Woodbridge Board of Selectmen on July 8 accepted the police building committee’s recommendation to contract with Jukunsky Humes Architects (JHA) for architectural and engineering services covering phases 1–3 of a police station renovation.
Chris, chair of the building committee, told the board the town issued a request for qualifications on Feb. 13, received six proposals, interviewed finalists and ultimately shortlisted two firms before recommending JHA. Chris said the committee valued the firm’s familiarity with the building and prior studies they had completed and noted references were uniformly positive.
Genovese confirmed the contract recommendation covers the first three phases (needs assessment, preliminary schematic development and design through the referendum process) but does not include the detailed design work typically done in phase 4. Chris said the firm’s proposed schedule would broadly complete the initial three phases in about 18 months if the work proceeds as planned.
Selectmen asked whether funding for the first three phases had been budgeted; Genovese said funds had been identified in the existing budget and that the JHA bid was within the allocation for phases 1–3. The board moved to accept the building committee’s recommendation and the motion carried.
What happens next: the building committee will continue work on needs assessment and schematics, with a possible public referendum on later phases and funding sources to be determined if the project advances.
