Ferrelview accepts water commissioner resignation; board discusses roads, vault upgrades and park improvements

Acceptance of resignation
City Administrator April Baxter told the board she had received Burney’s resignation on March 25, 2026. Grant Lewton moved to accept the resignation; Mathew Damm seconded. The minutes record roll-call votes in favor by the three trustees present. The minutes do not record a replacement appointment at the meeting; filling the vacancy will be addressed in future proceedings.
Water system update
April Baxter reported that Bart’s Electric recently installed the meter pedestal for the master vault sump pump and that the village will purchase two locks to secure the power supply; those costs will be billed to the Water Department.
Roads and procurement
Ms. Baxter said she released a Request for Bid for Chester Avenue repaving and is negotiating a cooperative agreement with Platte County Public Works so the village can piggyback county contract pricing for 2026 repaving projects. She said she expected an ordinance related to that agreement to be prepared by the next meeting.
Parks and logo
For Fern Brown Park, Baxter submitted five fence-art options and quotes for concrete backfill and rubber mulch tied to the village’s 2025 park enhancements. The board approved adding $1,000 to the 2026 Parks and Recreation budget (the budget had been set at $1,500) to permit additional purchases. Baxter presented a rough draft city logo incorporating clip art of an electric Interurban railcar created by Elizabeth Damm; audience member Quentin Enriquez offered design feedback and volunteered to continue work on the logo with his team.
Community questions
During the KC Water Services update and the discussion of water-system planning, resident Quentin Enriquez said he has worked on data center projects in the area and expressed concern about potential impacts on water service and rates. Baxter said she had raised such concerns with KC Water, which told the board it is studying impacts where data centers operate but had not previously gathered pre-development data in Ferrelview.
Next steps
The minutes indicate staff will draft any necessary cooperative-agreement ordinance with Platte County for subsequent meetings, and that procurement and park purchases will proceed with approved funding. The meeting adjourned at 6:57 PM.
