Miami R‑I reports athletics successes, Missouri Options enrollment and CSIP update

Board and staff reports at the Nov. 19 Miami R‑I meeting emphasized recent athletics results, program enrollments and district planning.
In the athletics report junior high boys basketball finished the season 3–12; junior high girls were 12–4, won the conference tournament and placed second at the Hume Invitational. High school volleyball finished 18–7‑1, won its conference tournament and took first place in the Miami Invitational. The activities report noted coaches have completed testing and the basketball jamboree was scheduled for the next day.
Principal Jessica Johnson told the board the Missouri Options Program currently has two students enrolled and one additional student interested in enrolling for the spring term; she also said the handbook committee planned to work on both the high school and elementary handbooks on Dec. 9. The safety report listed no incidents to report.
On the superintendent report the district discussed the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and said RPDC out of Warrensburg will be working with the district. BOE President Alicia Collins closed the public portion emphasizing leadership beyond classroom instruction.
These program and planning updates preceded the board’s new‑business votes and the subsequent move to executive session for personnel matters.
