Miami R‑I board approves coaching hires, accepts cheer coach resignation and raises ACH limit

On personnel matters, the board voted to offer Brett Isaacson the position of high school girls basketball coach for the 2024-25 school year, pending completion of all required checks and paperwork. The motion carried unanimously, 6-0. The board also moved to offer Kayla Powell the position of high school girls assistant basketball coach for 2024-25; that motion passed with five votes in favor and one abstention from board member Richie Powell (Yes 5, Abstain 1). Later the board approved offering Kayla Powell the position of high school boys assistant basketball coach for 2024-25 under the same "pending requirements" condition; that motion carried with the same recorded tally (Yes 5, Abstain 1).
On district finances, Richie Powell moved to raise the monthly ACH origination exposure limit at Citizens Bank to $150,000. Les Nieder seconded the motion, which passed unanimously, 6-0.
The board accepted the resignation of Jaime Reitz as cheer coach for the 2024-25 school year; the acceptance was approved 6-0. The board then voted to offer Nancy Bettels the position of high school cheer coach for 2024-25, pending completion of required conditions; that motion passed unanimously, 6-0.
The special session was adjourned at 6:08 p.m. on a 6-0 vote. The one-page minutes for the Oct. 24 meeting were prepared for approval on Nov. 19, 2024, reported by Treasurer Dea Erickson and typed by Secretary Lisa Filtingberger.
