Fayette aldermen criticize Ambulance District relocation plans after council denies rezoning

Several members of the Fayette Board of Aldermen on May 26 criticized the Ambulance District’s planned relocation and a public statement they said undermined the council’s zoning decision.

Alderman JB Waggoner said he found the district’s use of quotation marks around the word "zoning" in its public announcement to be offensive and suggested the phrasing dismissed the board’s zoning authority.
Alderman Bradley Patty noted that the Ambulance District’s materials identified Highway 5 as the preferred site, and he said the city could require the District to pay for any necessary water and electrical utility upgrades if the project proceeds. Alderman Patrick Roll urged the council to do everything within its authority to address residents’ concerns.
