Alderman Bradley Patty moved the measure and the motion passed unanimously.
Water-line relocation: The Board approved accepting quotes for relocation of a water line at Cleveland and Lucky Street: Don Schnieders Excavating Company for $55,116.00 and Own Engineering for $20,600.00. The Board directed that expenses be included in the 2027 budget; the motion passed unanimously.
Audit approval: The Board approved the audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022.
Invoices and payroll: The Board approved Resolution #2026-09 to pay invoices and salaries totaling $476,549.80. The fund breakdown recorded in the motion was General Fund $105,964.96; Electric Fund $216,741.43; Water Fund $82,814.08; Sewer Fund $71,029.33.
City attorney hiring and other actions: The Board approved hiring the law firm Brydon, Swearengen & England, P.C. and Attorney Erin Wiseman as the City Attorney. The Board also approved the first reading (by title) of Purchasing Authority Ordinance (Bill #2026-04) with requested edits to minor-purchase thresholds and language about prior approvals, and elected Alderwoman Michelle Ishamel as Acting President of the Board.
Items tabled: The Board opened competitive bids for CDBG grant-writing and administration services but tabled the award to the next meeting. The Council also tabled a final decision on downtown parking and striping to a subsequent public hearing.
What this means: The approvals clear the way for near-term work on the DC Rogers Dam and the Cleveland/Lucky street water-line relocation and incorporate the invoice payments into the city’s regular disbursement cycle. Staff indicated some items (CDBG award, downtown parking configuration) will return to the Board for further review or public comment.
