Queenstown to interview five applicants for commission vacancy; public asks for open sessions

Town Manager Amy Moore told the Queenstown Commissioners on Jan. 7 that five residents applied to fill a vacant commissioner seat and that the deadline closed that day. The applicants listed in the meeting materials are George Buckler, Jim Watzin, Tom Peregoy, Ned Foster and George Plumbo. Moore said the next step is to schedule interviews with the applicants.
During public comment Di Quynn-Reno urged the commissioners to hold the candidate interviews in open session and to ask the same questions of each candidate so the public can observe the process. Commissioners signaled agreement to inform the public when the interview meeting will take place.
No formal appointment or vote occurred at the Jan. 7 meeting. The board did not record any interview dates at the session; staff said interviews will be arranged in the near future.
