Galena council accepts spillway repair bid, moves Independence Day celebration to park and approves routine business

During Old Business on April 14, 2025, the Galena City Council accepted a bid from Curt Rhodes for spillway repair at the sewer plant. Council member Deana Wells moved to accept the bid; the motion passed with the council recorded as voting in favor.
The council also voted to move the Independence Day celebration back to the city park. Council member Amanda Parton made the motion; Deana Wells seconded and the motion carried. Curt Rhodes volunteered to cook catfish for the celebration if the city purchases the fish. Council discussed fundraising letters, donation receipts, food trucks and activities as part of planning.
Under Bills and Finance the council voted to pay the bills (motion by Deana Wells, second by Amanda Parton) and earlier approved minutes from the March 18, 2025 meeting (motion by Deana Wells, second by Claire Beyer). The council voted to enter a closed session at 6:15 p.m. and reconvened at 6:30 p.m.; meeting adjournment was approved at 6:30 p.m.
