The Smyth County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a Planning Commission recommendation to grant a special-use permit for a recreational-vehicle park at 1446 Buckeye Hollow Road on April 9.
Assistant County Administrator Clegg Williams said the Planning Commission voted 6–0 in favor of the permit and noted this was the third time the request had come before the commission; Williams said the RV park has been at the address for years. Royal Oak District Supervisor Courtney Widener moved to accept the commission’s recommendation; the motion was seconded by Chilhowie District Supervisor Mike Sturgill and passed by a unanimous roll call (Saltville District Supervisor Roscoe Call absent).
Board and staff comments indicated the action formalizes a longstanding use rather than creating a new facility.
