Snowville awards Bowery Park electrical work, buys mower and approves road seal coat

Council reviewed two bids to complete electrical work at Bowery Park: a detailed, itemized bid from Pump Control for roughly $15,298 and a lower, less-detailed bid near $10,875. Council members said the Pump Control proposal included the requested insurance and an itemized cost breakdown; on that basis the council voted to award the electrical contract to Pump Control.
Councilmember LuAnn Johnson explained her reasoning for selecting the higher bid: "The Pump Control bid... everything is itemized out, labor, part all the materials... he has a company that he does. He does this for a living. I feel more comfortable having one that does this for a living do the work." The council asked staff to confirm insurance documents and scheduling to ensure the work is completed before the Fourth of July celebration.
The council also approved purchase of a park lawn mower (recorded on the meeting record at $4,099) and noted the mower had already been paid. Finally, members authorized a seal-coating project for 800 North and the church area at a cost of $8,600 to preserve road surfaces ahead of summer events.
Votes on the lawn mower, the electrical contract award and the seal-coat contract were passed by the members present. Councilors emphasized the need for complete bids, proof of licensing and insurance, and on-time completion.
