Leader Johnson also moved to suspend the rules for immediate consideration of Senate Joint Resolution 140, a measure providing for a recess on Monday the 17th for Presidents Day; the resolution was adopted without objection.
Chairman Massey told senators the Transportation and Safety Committee is accepting amendments to omnibus license plate and highway road-naming bills with a March 6 deadline and invited members to a 10:30 a.m. discussion with TDOT regional directors on hurricane recovery. Chairman Yeager moved to send a resolution honoring the late Michael Timmy back to the calendar committee so the body could prepare a memorial resolution; that referral was approved without objection.
Senator Johnson moved adjournment; the Senate voted to adjourn and will reconvene at 8:30 a.m. Thursday next. Several ceremonial guest recognitions and lightfloor banter about university colors occurred during the session but did not affect legislative actions recorded on the calendar.
