The Board of Trumbull County Commissioners on June 24 adopted a resolution accepting three roadways in Brookfield Township — Cherry Street, Owsley Street and Wahhabi Court — into the township’s maintenance system, per a Brookfield Township trustees resolution adopted June 12, 2026.
Dan Suttles, who identified himself as a Brookfield Township trustee, told the board the township passed a 3.5-mill road levy in November 2022 and developed a 20-year plan describing how levy revenues would be used. He said Brookfield has 20 unaccepted roads and plans to accept three roads over the next couple of years, with the goal of eventually taking ownership of all 20 so the township can perform repairs and maintenance.
Suttles said historically Brookfield had no accepted dirt roads and that the township has so far used levy funds to address 54 roads since 2023. He described the township’s approach as taking “small bites” to bring roads up to grade and noted the process included coordination with the prosecutor’s office and the county engineer.
The resolution (listed on the agenda as MDash26Dash71) was approved by roll call. Commissioners spoke in support of the trustees’ progress.
