On Sept. 9 the Joint Committee of the Whole recommended that the City Council approve an expansion of the pavilion at Lion's Park and add parking to accommodate increased use associated with the park’s splash pad.
Rich Mueller told the committee that increased usage of the splash pad has created demand for a larger pavilion and more parking. John Nagel presented the committee with a plan describing the proposed expansion and parking improvements.
Council member Hurkman moved to recommend council approval of the Lion's Park expansion; Council member Gerbers seconded the motion and it carried. The committee’s vote was a recommendation to the full council; specific construction timing, cost and funding responsibilities were not detailed in the transcript and will be addressed by the council if it approves the recommendation.
Next steps recorded in the meeting minutes include forwarding the recommendation to the council for formal approval and to obtain any required permits and cost estimates.
