The Little Canada City Council on June 10 approved a resolution supporting Metro Transit’s Regional Solicitation application to expand Metro Micro on‑demand transit service.
Community Development Director Ben Harrington reported Metro Transit requested a letter of support to strengthen its grant application. Council members asked whether the service would be open to all residents and how far the service area would extend; Harrington said anyone can use Metro Micro regardless of age or disability and that Little Canada would be part of a broader service area that could include some locations outside the city boundary. Mayor Tom Fischer said seniors frequently cite lack of transportation as a major concern and expressed support for expanding local transit options.
Schwalbach moved adoption of Resolution 2026‑6‑85; Miller seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Council acknowledged that Metro Micro is a localized, app‑based shared ride that can connect riders to main transit lines but is generally intended for local curb‑to‑curb trips.
