The Select Board appointed Taylor Doyle to the Duxbury Planning Board on July 6 after a joint public interview with the Planning Board.
Taylor Doyle, a civil engineer and Duxbury resident since 2020, told both boards he had reviewed the town’s comprehensive plan and zoning bylaws and sought to bring technical experience on site‑plan and zoning interpretation. "I reviewed the comp plan and zoning ordinance and I feel I can assist on recodification and technical reviews," Doyle said during the interview.
Planning Board members said the vacancy exposed a skills gap: the board had recently lost an engineer and an attorney and wanted someone who could read plans and provide technical perspective. Planning Board members nominated Doyle and the Select Board voted to appoint him to serve until the next annual election, when the seat will be filled by vote.
Two other candidates, Joanne Kingsley and John Russell, outlined their local experience and interest in civic service; the Planning Board recommended those not chosen consider other town committees. The board also reminded the public that many volunteer openings remain across committees and encouraged strong applicants to serve.
Doyle’s appointment was approved by roll call vote during the meeting; the Planning Board will also assign liaisons and committee roles after the new member is seated.
