Warner officials note transfer-station water problems, audit bids differ and board adopts rules of procedure

At the Feb. 17 meeting, Warner’s Director of Public Works, Herm Blanchette, updated the Select Board on issues at the Transfer Station and associated facilities: well-water testing showed high levels of chloride, manganese and iron. Blanchette said short-term bottled-water service from Monadnock Spring Water will cost about $100 per month for bubblers and that filtration systems could cost about $4,000 per facility plus roughly $150 per month in maintenance; he plans to contact the State about sharing costs for a long-term well solution. Blanchette also reported Material Safety Data Sheets are being updated, loading-dock steel plates need replacement (quoted at about $4,000), and lighting bids have been received (a bid from KLM noted); resident Ed Mical suggested pursuing Eversource energy grants.
On personnel oversight, Elizabeth Labbe said the State needs the Board’s signature on a form assigning responsibilities for Health Inspector Chris Lopez to satisfy state term-difference requirements; Nancy Martin said the Warner health inspector is not certified and asked whether certification is possible. Labbe said she would research certification options.
On audits, Seidel recapped two proposals: a $10,750 low-cost bid from Veroff CPA and a $34,250 proposal from Vachon Clukay, which previously served Warner during a challenging audit. Board members expressed divergent views on price versus experience and agreed to revisit the choice at a future meeting.
Separately, the Board approved final edits and unanimously adopted the amended Select Board Rules of Procedure (motion by Seidel; second by Hanson; roll-call vote passed).
