Sanbornton conservation commission finalizes LCA language draft after Planning Board feedback

Chair Karen Bordeau reported that members of the Sanbornton Conservation Commission who attended the Jan. 7 Planning Board meeting brought back substantive feedback on proposed Land Conservation Area (LCA) language.
Brandon Deacon summarized the Planning Board’s input and told the commission that the board indicated LCAs will no longer be deferred to future subdivisions or to property owners. Several commission members recommended retaining the proposed numerical figures in the draft rather than moving them into a separate addendum.
Deacon said he will prepare a final draft of the LCA language along with a supporting, tracked-revisions document that explains each change and the rationale. He will forward both documents to the Planning Board for its review.
Commission members framed the revision as a step toward clearer town policy on how LCA designations apply during site review and subdivision. The commission did not take a formal vote on the language at the Jan. 8 meeting; members agreed to continue refining the draft and coordinating with the Planning Board.
The commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026, when members expect to review Deacon’s draft and the tracking document.
