Commission forwards business-license change and approves payroll services RFP

The Ways & Means Commission on April 2 voted unanimously to forward an amendment to Chapter 605 of the Brentwood municipal code that would remove the requirement for Public Safety Committee review of certain tenant uses listed as permitted or conditional in the zoning regulations. Staff described the change in the context of a March 26, 2025 review of Arts in Motion Children's Dance and Music School and said the Board of Aldermen had expressed interest in eliminating the additional committee review for similar cases.
Alderman Sullivan Erger moved and Alderwoman Michele Goad seconded forwarding the ordinance amendment to the full board; the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, staff reported that Brentwood has contracted with ADP Workforce since FY2015 and that the platform is being phased out. Staff requested authorization to pursue other payroll platforms and HR services; Alderman Jeff Gould moved and Alderman Sullivan Erger seconded proceeding with a payroll services request for proposals. The commission approved the RFP motion unanimously. Staff estimated an implementation timeline of about 26 weeks for a new service.
Both items were forwarded to the Board of Aldermen for consideration; no final ordinance or contract award was made at the commission meeting.
