Board approves appointments, contracts and routine purchases in Dec. 10 meeting

At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine governance actions including advisory committee appointments, software and service contracts, and committee minutes.
The board approved Resolution #25-12-20 confirming the chairman's recommended appointees to multiple advisory boards and commissions with terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The minutes list appointments for bodies that include the airport board, economic development/brownfield redevelopment authority, planning commission, health board, parks and recreation commission, and the zoning board of appeals.
On contracts and purchases, the board approved an annual renewal with ZixArchive not to exceed $11,029.66; the purchase of 155 Microsoft Office Business licenses not to exceed $37,306.95; the tentative AFSCME wage re-opener agreement for FY2026; and the Shiawassee County CDBG Procurement Policy to comply with grant requirements. The board also approved a contract for medical examiner services with Sparrow Hospital Association subject to revisions by county legal counsel.
The board approved the proposed fee schedule for the Shiawassee Animal Control Shelter, a purchase of VMware software not to exceed $25,423.20 using fund balance, and several Shiawassee County Health Department contracts: ALZY Environmental Service, LLC for registered sanitarian services ($41 per hour, average 24 hours/week for 2026), Dr. Dennis Chernin for medical director services ($41,250 for 2026), and Debra Bebow for billings services ($30 per hour, average 30 hours/week for Feb.–Dec. 2026). Recorded votes on these items were unanimous where roll-call tallies are provided.
The clerk reminded commissioners of the Jan. 7, 2026 organizational meeting and the need for appointees to take oaths of office. The meeting adjourned at 6:03 p.m.
