District counsel reiterates opinion on Corkscrew Road; CDD assigned roles on Pelican Sound Safeguard Panel

District Counsel Tony Pires reported that, after retrieving documents, his opinion about ownership of the portion of Corkscrew Road west of U.S. 41 remains unchanged. The board noted the Village of Estero has engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to identify needed repairs; PSGRC representatives said the study will include both east and west sides of Corkscrew Road.
Separately, PSGRC President Neil Collins and General Manager Eric Long updated the board about a Pelican Sound Community Safeguard Panel. Mr. Schultz said the CDD will participate in Objective 2 (safeguarding the community from natural-disaster impact) with Keith Merrill representing the CDD, and Objective 4 (improving street safety) with Robert Twombly representing the CDD. Mr. Long said the panel’s action plan comprises seven objectives; he will provide an update after the panel’s first meeting in December.
Mr. Krebs said sidewalk inspections are being finalized and repair estimates will be presented at the January meeting; he will begin line-of-sight inspections as part of that work. Mr. Pires said he will forward Apple Signs contact information to Mrs. Adams for follow-up.
