River Ridge approves irrigation repairs, Seaside drainage timeline and hires GulfScapes for landscape maintenance

The board approved a $15,000 not-to-exceed change order for irrigation repairs, received an update that the Seaside & Master Drainage Project will begin in two to three weeks, and terminated Laz’s Lawn Service to engage GulfScapes at $58,500.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs presented a revised scope for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and said MRI expects work to start within two to three weeks. Krebs also identified ancillary irrigation costs from Irrigation Concepts: $4,002.50 to repair wiring and about $1,300 each to raise roughly seven to eight irrigation heads.
On motion by Kurt Blumenthal and seconded by Bob Schultz the board approved an Irrigation Concepts change order to repair wiring and raise seven to eight irrigation heads in a not-to-exceed amount of $15,000.
Also added to the agenda, staff recommended terminating the landscape service agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service due to poor performance and engaging GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services. GulfScapes’ proposal is $58,500 (about $13,000 higher than the $45,000 budgeted). The board approved engaging GulfScapes and authorized Management to terminate the Laz’s Lawn Service contract effective immediately; discussion noted using withheld payments from Laz’s Lawn Service to offset the higher GulfScapes cost.
Mr. Krebs said he and District Counsel would finalize billing rates and work authorizations for the gatehouse and monument projects and forward agreements for execution.
