Historic District Commission reviews sign quotes and potential use of capital reserve funds

Chair Sam Swartz told the Historic District Commission Jan. 6 that he had received quotes from Bell & The Whistle for replacement Historic District signage. Selectman Brandon Deacon said he believed the cost could be covered from an existing Capital Reserve Fund because voters established the Historic District Commission and the fund could be used for town infrastructure tied to that vote.
Commission member Audry Barriault asked that the Town Office sign, which she described as looking worn, be considered as part of the signage work and recommended adding a directional arrow so visitors do not mistake Old Town Hall for the Town Office. Swartz said he would forward the vendor quotes to Selectman Deacon to discuss with the Select Board.
No funding decision was made at the meeting; the matter will proceed through the Select Board’s review of the quotes and any potential use of Capital Reserve Funds.
