The Warner Select Board voted Jan. 6 to forward a warrant article to Town Meeting that would raise the Optional Total and Permanent Service‑Connected Disability (T&D) property tax credit from $1,400 to $2,150 for the 2026 tax year.
Elizabeth Labbe, the town assessor, explained that House Bill 99 will prevent certain veterans from receiving a separate optional veterans’ tax credit and that the change in state law would effectively reduce tax relief for qualifying disabled veterans. Chair Harry Seidel read the drafted warrant article and said increasing the T&D credit to $2,150 “ensures that qualifying disabled veterans in Warner continue to receive a level of tax relief comparable to what they received prior to HB99.”
Seidel moved and Vice Chair Alfred Hanson seconded the motion to place the article on the Town Meeting warrant. The board recorded a roll‑call vote: Hanson YES, Michael Smith YES, Seidel YES.
If adopted by Warner voters, the change would modify provisions of RSA 72:35 for the 2026 property tax year; the minutes reference House Bill 99 as the state action prompting the local change. The board did not set further implementation details during the meeting; any final policy and its effective date will be determined by the warrant language presented to voters and by subsequent town administration steps.
