Greenwood staff preview nearly $3M in near-term infrastructure work, including $1.1M sewer basin rehab

City administration told the Greenwood board on Dec. 20 that several near-term infrastructure projects will total roughly $3 million in about a year, including a Sewer Basin No. 2 rehabilitation project estimated at roughly $1,100,000.
Steven reported the Keaton Avenue stormwater construction is complete or nearly complete aside from sodding to be done next year; a rusted pipe was replaced with new plastic pipe and a metal flume at the outfall. He also said Worldwide Streetscapes finished the 2024 sidewalk and curb program and completed Change Order 3. The Sewer Basin No. 2 rehab and repairs project, estimated at about $1,100,000, is scheduled to begin in February 2025 with SAK Construction named as the prime contractor and multiple subcontractors expected to work on the job.
Steven characterized the coming spending as a significant outlay: "That'll be almost $3,000,000 in infrastructure out the door in a 1 year period, which is very significant," he said. Staff plans community education and social-media updates about the sewer project as work begins.
The board acknowledged residents affected by a collapsed drain and thanked them for patience; staff said follow-up scheduling and change-order details will be provided in future reports.
