Webster planning board begins two-year master plan update, plans townwide survey

The Webster Planning Board on Feb. 3 agreed to begin a roughly two-year update of the town’s master plan and to broaden public outreach by distributing an updated survey with July tax bills.

Land Use Coordinator Russell Tatro told the board he had incorporated members’ feedback into the survey and planned to send it with the July tax bills to maximize responses. He outlined a timeline that would give the board about two years to complete the update and recommended that the board spend the remainder of the year reviewing each chapter with the various boards, committees and members of the public who have a stake in each subject. He also said the next master plan should be shorter and more easily digestible than the current roughly 200-page plan.

Board members agreed with the proposed approach and set the first chapter for review at the next meeting. The discussion emphasized outreach and cross-committee review rather than immediate drafting; no formal advisory committees or funding allocations were recorded in the minutes.
