Gardner-Webb University President Nate Evans told the Boiling Springs Town Council on May 5 that the university recently secured a $1.5 million commitment for dormitory and athletic renovations and that the campus's Double Dog Day fundraising effort generated $2.5 million in commitments.
Evans said the $1.5 million commitment will support renovations to the Myers and Spangler dormitories, locker-room and academic upgrades, plus a complete overhaul of the football center weight room. He also announced a dual-enrollment partnership with Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and said Jeff Cogburn will join the university as a community relations representative in July.
Evans highlighted student successes including the FBLA team's state championship and a recent ROTC competition on campus. Mayor Tommy Greene and council members received the update and accepted commemorative cups distributed by Town Manager Zachary Parker in recognition of President Evans' inauguration.
