Grandview honors yard-of-the-month winners; staff preview Blue Ridge Phase 3 open house

The Grandview City Board of Aldermen recognized multiple winners of the city’s "Yard of the Month" program, with two winners named in each ward for the current cycle. Staff displayed photos and winners described neighborhood traditions and cooperation that motivate their displays. “We decorate every year. We love it. We do it for our neighbors,” one winner said.
Public comment was opened and closed with no speakers.
Staff also previewed an open-house meeting on Phase 3 of the Blue Ridge Boulevard project, scheduled to be held the next day at the city (staff gave the start time as 4:30 p.m.). Doug, a city staff member, said the event will present preliminary plans and use a colored-dot feedback method so property owners and business representatives can indicate preferences for landscaping and design options. “There are some items that we’re looking for input on, particularly on some of the landscaping items... those in attendance will have colored dots that they can put on a board to express what you like, what you don't like,” Doug said.
In other business, a council member identified as Irene announced a campaign kickoff set for Feb. 6 at the Elegant Affair on Blue Ridge and invited colleagues and residents to attend.
What to expect: staff said phase 2 of Blue Ridge is out to bid and the Phase 3 open house is intended to gather property-owner feedback before plan finalization. Staff also offered to meet property owners one-on-one during design and procurement phases.
