Taylor Memorial Library director seeks grant-funded outdoor lockers, reports temporary II director status

Karen Kling, the Taylor Memorial Library director, told the Village of Taylor board on March 10 that the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has recognized her as a Temporary II Library Director and that she plans to take the required classes in the fall.
Kling reported that library visits have been increasing with better weather and described recent training through the Winding Rivers Library System. She said WRLS is applying for a grant to purchase weather-resistant outdoor lockers that are sold in sets of four with a pedestal base and that Taylor Memorial Library would be interested in receiving one. Kling explained practical considerations the board will need to address if awarded a locker: where it would be located, purchasing locks, tethering to prevent theft and the possibility of dedicating one locker as a drop-off/return bin for patrons who cannot visit during regular hours.
Kling said the library has begun ordering new books and is planning spring events. She noted Barb (surname not specified in the minutes) assists with staffing and that the next library board meeting is scheduled for March 24, 2025.
