Village of Taylor schedules informational meeting after Tri-County Ambulance offers transport services

The Village of Taylor board discussed potential changes to emergency transport services during its Sept. 9 meeting after President Joe Kniseley reported Tri-County Ambulance Service can assume transport responsibilities for the village.
Kniseley said Tri-County would typically transport patients to Whitehall but that staff or patients could opt for a different hospital or medical center when appropriate. He recommended the board hold an informational meeting for residents to explain how the arrangement would work and what changes—if any—would be felt by the public.
Clerk/Treasurer Tammy Weisman said she will determine the legal requirements and notice procedures to hold an informational meeting and will arrange the meeting to occur before the October board meeting. No formal vote or contract was taken at the Sept. 9 session.
Why it matters: changes to which ambulance provider handles transports can affect response coordination, billing and destination patterns for patients. The board is pursuing public outreach to inform residents before moving forward.
