Silvis Council approves no-parking sign, HVAC maintenance agreement and $33.19 sewer write-off

The Silvis City Council unanimously approved three routine items at its April 7 regular meeting: a no‑parking sign in a city‑owned alley, authority related to HVAC preventative maintenance for the police department, and a small sewer account write‑off.

Mayor Bob Cervantes and the council voted 8–0 to approve placement of a "No Parking" sign north of 4th Avenue and west of 7th Street after the item was moved from the Committee of the Whole for final action. Alderman Doug Greer moved the approval; Alderman Chad Vroman seconded.

On the HVAC item, Alderman Steve Marinaccio moved and Alderman Doug Greer seconded approval of the action recorded in the minutes as authority to sign a Bi‑State joint purchasing agreement related to preventative maintenance for the Police Department HVAC system; the agenda described the vendor as Crawford Company at $4,440.43 per year. The council recorded the vote as 8–0 in favor.

Council also approved a $33.19 sewer account write‑off for 605 15th Street, attributed to a leaking meter (motion by Alderman Doug Greer; second by Alderman Steve Marinaccio). The vote was 8–0.

All three items were first discussed in the Committee of the Whole on the same night and were carried forward to the regular meeting for formal approval. The council also established and approved a consent agenda earlier in the evening.

The council did not record any dissenting votes on these items and no amendments were noted in the meeting minutes. The minutes indicate the motions passed by voice vote with eight ayes and zero nays.
