Board reviews driveway-regulation changes; accepts minutes and hears hot‑tub regulation clarification

The Planning Board spent part of its Aug. 15 meeting reviewing proposed updates to the town’s Driveway Regulations. Chairman Mike Howard asked Board member John Trachy to work through the updated draft; the board considered changes line by line and paused at line 268. Members directed Trachy to produce a revised text for continued review at the board’s September meeting, at which the board intends to vote on the package.
The board also accepted prior meeting minutes. John Trachy moved to accept the June 20 minutes as amended; Dan Saulnier seconded. The motion passed; Poul Heilmann and Darrin Patten abstained because they had been absent from that meeting. Trachy then moved to accept the July 18 minutes as amended; Dan Saulnier seconded and the board approved, with Heilmann and Patten again abstaining.
Separately, Tim Bray, the Zoning Coordinator, said the town does not regulate the use of hot tubs on private property and that, in his view, the State of New Hampshire likewise does not regulate hot tubs on private property; he raised that point in the context of properties operating as short‑term rentals. The board recorded no further action on that point in the minutes.
