Resident voices safety concerns about end of Webster Street after repaving

Carla Gerber addressed the Town Board about safety hazards at the end of Webster Street, saying heavy brush, a missing easement and paving that lacks a proper right-of-way have contributed to two recent accidents. Gerber said she measured the paved width at about 26 feet and argued the repaving did not include a proper right-of-way, forcing drivers to swing wide and toward the center of the road.
Highway Superintendent Michael Andrews responded that Town of Malone roads are constructed to a 22-foot New York State standard. Andrews said the Highway Department completed paving of the road, installed guide rails and added signage. He also clarified that removal of large limbs is handled by the Malone Call Firemen’s brush truck, not the Highway Department. Deputy Superintendent John Manley was cited by Andrews as someone familiar with the intersection and its hazards.
