Village of Taylor board approves ambulance contract, library roof repair and multiple permits

The Village of Taylor board on Oct. 14 approved several administrative and capital items, including moving forward with a contract for Tri‑County Gunderson Ambulance Service, awarding an $8,000 roof repair for the library, and approving building permits and temporary licenses.
President Joe Kniseley told trustees that an informational meeting on the ambulance service was held Oct. 7 and that transport destinations may vary by staff or patient decision; following discussion the board voted to move forward with a contract with Tri‑County Gunderson Ambulance Service (motion carried, five yes votes). The board did not record a detailed contract amount in the minutes.
Trustees approved a Maverick Coatings LLC quote of $8,000 to patch the metal roof at 420 2nd Street (the library/community center). Julie White made the motion to proceed; the motion passed with five yes votes. Kniseley said the expense was included in the preliminary 2024 year‑end estimates in the draft 2025 budget.
The board also approved moving forward with an underground lighting service for Veteran’s Park after reviewing Xcel Energy’s application; Kniseley said there may be winter costs and that Hammond Electric provided a quote of $2,300 to install a new meter socket/pedestal the village would pay to connect the service. Trustees approved proceeding with the underground option.
On routine business the board approved building permits for Melissa Graf (raise and replace garage at 111 Main Street) and Alisha Smith (partial gut and remodel at 321 Bridge Street). Trustees granted an operator’s license to Tamereau Berry for Squirlz Nest after a background check and granted a Temporary Class B license to Taylor Fire & Rescue for a Chili Feed on Nov. 30, 2024, 3:00–8:00 p.m.
Financial motions included approval of the Treasurer’s Report and a motion to pay general fund bills ($9,205.79), water fund bills ($1,745.81) and sewer fund bills ($2,058.95); both motions passed by recorded voice with five yes votes. The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
The board also agreed to schedule a special meeting to review the preliminary 2025 budget and Capital Improvement Plan on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
