The Springfield Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on Nov. 12 to adopt the town’s revised Sewage Disposal Systems and Wells regulations for shoreland areas, as amended on that date.
Town staff said Attorney Johnston reviewed the final draft and recommended clarifications, which were implemented by staff and discussed with the Board before the motion. Poul Heilmann moved to accept the amended regulation; Amy Lewis seconded and all members voted in favor.
The minutes direct residents and applicants to the town’s website for the posted regulation (https://springfieldnh.org/document/sewage-disposal-and-well-regulations2024/). The Health Officer also reported approval of an Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS) application for a replacement system at 134 Dutchman Pond Road; the application requested waivers from Env-Wq 1008.04 (distance-to-well, distance-to-non-hydric ditch and distance-to-very-poorly-drained-soil) and was found to meet the town’s Sewage Disposal regulations adopted June 23, 2023.
Board members noted that NHDES and local approvals remain prerequisites for occupancy where noted on permit approvals.
